9 Review Score This is yet another great base in the Cotswolds to visit the many beautiful local towns and villages. The location next to the Wildlife park is great and there is lots to do in surrounding areas. The site is quiet enough to relax and is nicely laid out in it's pleasant surroundings. Positives: Great location, good dog walk and play area, decent sized pitches, proximity to Cotswold Wildlife park. Needs work: Lighting and signposting of dog walks. Number of Service Points.
Site Name: Burford Caravan and motorhome club site
Location: Bradwell Grove, Burford, Oxfordshire OX18 4JJ
Date Visited: November 2017
- Directly Opposite Cotswold Wildlife Park
- Easy access to site
- Local Village and pubs 5 minutes drive
- Bourton, Witney and Cirencester all within 30 minute drive
- Good sized pitches
- Even ground
- Well laid out spacing between pitches
- Pitches mostly have small grass areas to side and rear of each pitch
COULD BE BETTER
- Lots of pitches under trees, not so good for leaves or sap.
The site has 1 toilet block, a small shop in reception, a kids play area and 2 dog walks . See the overview of each below:
Toilet blocks: There is one toilet block on site which consists of 2 men’s areas, 2 ladies areas and a unisex toilet. The toilets as per other C&M club sites are clean, tidy and well laid out with toilets, shower stalls and sink stalls.
Service points: The site has 2 service points. It’s not a huge site so it just about suffices but some of the pitch locations do mean a bit of a walk for your refills and emptying of facilities. They could do with at least one further service point set between the lower numbered pitches.
Shop: Standard onsite shop selling essentials such as groceries, toiletries, chemicals and papers as well as discounted tickets to the wildlife park. Also a small information room adjacent to the shop.
Kids park: The kids park is fairly impressive on this site. It’s situated at the far side of the park beyond the grass pitches and is a fairly vast space complete with some standard playground equipment as well as some newer climbing equipment which would keep the young ones occupied for longer than usual.
Dog Walk: There are 2 dog walks on site. One is completely fenced off which means you can let your furry friend off the lead. The other is larger but one end opens on the entrance road. Both have bins and were clean. Couple of issues with these are 1) no signposting 2)no lighting. Both of these made it tricky to find and use the facilities at night.
Extras: Chargeable wifi is present on site and for once actually works. TV signal points are included on your electric towers and are needed as signal is not stable without them.
THINGS TO DO
Within a 30 minute drive you can visit Cirencester, Bourton on the Water, Burford or Witney as well as lots of other quaint Cotswold towns. There are also other small villages such as Shilton which is a 5 minute drive and has a nice local pub to visit. Directly opposite the site is Cotswold Wildlife Park which most people would find enough of an attraction on it’s own for a day visit. You can check out previous articles on things to do in Moreton in Marsh and Broadway as both are within a fair reach of the site and there are lots of good local walks such as the Windrush Valley circular walks starting in local Burford. One thing to note is that you can’t really walk anywhere from the site other than Cotswold Wildlife Park.
DOG FRIENDLY :
The site is dog friendly and allows dogs on all pitches. There are 2 nicely sized dog walks, one enclosed and one not. If your out in winter or in the evening you will need a good torch as lighting is poor.
